Biography

The Public Relations Office at Centenary College of Louisiana was established in 1979, and it served as the administrative office responsible for publicizing news about the college. Before 1979, the office was known as the News Bureau. The Public Relations Office collected information about Centenary’s faculty, staff, and students. It created and distributed press releases to the region’s newspapers as well as television and radio stations. It also edited the college’s magazine “Centenary” (1970-1988), the faculty-staff news bulletin “Scuttlebutt” (1963-1987), and additional college brochures and publications.

The name of the office was used with varying consistency over time. The following list provides the predominate names and approximate years: News Bureau (1924-1936), Public Relations Department (1936-1951), News Bureau (1951-1979), Public Relations (1979-2008), Marketing and Communications (2008-2010), External Relations (2011-2015), Marketing and Communication (2016-present).
