Centenary College of Louisiana News Bureau

 Organization

Biography

The News Bureau at Centenary College of Louisiana was the administrative office responsible for publicizing the news of Centenary. The office collected information about the college’s faculty, staff, and students; created and distributed press releases about college activities and individuals; and edited the alumni publication “This is Centenary,” the faculty-staff news bulletin “Scuttlebutt,” and brochures of the college’s Development Office. The office regularly distributed information to the region’s newspapers as well as television and radio stations.

The name of the office -- the News Bureau -- was used with varying consistency from approximately 1950 to 1979. During part of this time, it existed within the Public Information Office. Before 1950, the functions of the News Bureau appear to have been handled by the Public Relations Office. In January 1979, the News Bureau was again renamed the Public Relations Office.
