Scope and Contents The Harry Hale, Jr. papers primarily consist of research material Hale collected while writing the book, Standing in the Gap: The Life and Ministry of Rev. Lea Joyner (Lima, OH: Fairway Press, 1987). Joyner was one of the few ordained woman in the Louisiana Conference of the Methodist Church (South Central Jurisdiction) during the mid-twentieth century.
