Biographical / Historical
Mount Zion Methodist Episcopal Church South was located approximately 5 miles northeast of Minden, Louisiana, on Louisiana Highway 518 near the intersection with United States Highway 79. The church building no longer exists, but the Mount Zion Cemetery remains at the location.
Mount Zion Methodist Episcopal Church South seems to have begun in the 1880s. The congregation discontinued services when the church building burned in 1922, and members joined other nearby churches. In 1967, the Louisiana Conference of the Methodist Church South Central Jurisdiction formally declared Mount Zion discontinued and abandoned.
