Biographical / Historical
Pine Grove United Methodist Church (Minden, La.), located at 4549 Louisiana Highway 159, originated in 1850 serving as a school and a church. It was called the Butler School House, and then later called the Methodist Society of Butler School House. In 1860, it burned down and a larger building was constructed. A third, larger church was built in 1878. The facility’s school closed in 1927, though the church continued operation. A new sanctuary was built in 1976. Pine Grove United Methodist Church disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church in 2022.
