Typescript of biographical essay on Richard Henderson Rivers (1814-1894), written by E. Brooks Holifield in 1992, and slated for publication in the "American National Biography." Carrie Virginia Schwing's Centenary College of Louisiana graduation certificate for Bachelor of Science (1900). Note: starting with its first female graduates in 1900, Centenary awarded women a certificate of completion rather than a diploma. This collection consists of pages removed from an autograph album belonging to Thomas Jefferson Shaffer when he attended Centenary College of Louisiana. Shaffer’s classmates at Centenary signed most of the autographs in 1861. Lengthier messages were written by Henry E. Cockerham, J. P. Hudson, and J. S. Leoron.
