Biographical / Historical
Meadows Museum of Art was established at Centenary College of Louisiana in 1975. Its permanent collection was established with the Indochina Collection of Jean Despujols donated by Algur H. Meadows. As an educational unit of Centenary College, the museum presents visual art programming. It features a contemporary art exhibition schedule that showcases international, national, and regional artists. Prior to its renovation into a museum, the building served as the college’s Arts Building (1924-1955) and Administration Building (1955-1975). During the 1960s and early 1970s, Centenary held some art exhibitions in the college’s library lobby.
