Biographical / Historical
John Magruder Sullivan (1866-1957) was born in Woodville, Mississippi, and graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana in 1887. He earned a master’s degree from the University of Mississippi (1890) and master’s and doctoral degrees from Vanderbilt University (1897, 1900). Sullivan served as preparatory department principal at Centenary (1887-1889), Professor of Natural Science at Centenary (1889-1902), and Professor of Chemistry at Millsaps College (1902-1947).
