Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Walter Cottingham Hohmann papers primarily document his time playing football at Centenary College of Louisiana during the 1930s. The collection includes two scrapbooks, a folder of loose items, and Centenary yearbooks with inscriptions from classmates.

Both scrapbooks contain many newspaper clippings about Centenary football players, practices, and games. The America First Scrapbook (1930-1936) also includes photographs of Hohmann and other Centenary football players as well as items from his high school years – football clippings, All City Football All-Star Team certificate (1930), and diploma (1932). Scrapbook (1935-1936) also includes play-by-play notes for a football game against Texas Christian University.

The loose items include football player photographs and a Centenary versus Texas Christian University football program (1935 October 26). The Centenary yearbooks are volumes 1935 and 1937.
