This collection primarily documents the activities of the Haynesville United Methodist Church (Haynesville, La.). This collection includes membership records, administrative board records, charge conference records, and committee records. Also included are administrative records from the nearby Shongaloo United Methodist Church (Shongaloo, La.).

In 1989, Centenary College of Louisiana Archives microfilmed the earliest records of First United Methodist Church (Haynesville, La.) and nearby legacy congregations. This included approximately 21 volumes: Flat Lick Methodist Episcopal Church South church register (1864-1916), Haynesville Methodist Episcopal Church South church register (1877-1899), Ward's Chapel/New Salem Methodist Episcopal Church South church register (1871-1920), White Hall Methodist Episcopal Church South church register (1899-1928), New Salem Methodist Episcopal Church South church conference record (1895-1903), Haynesville Church Methodist Episcopal Church South church conference record (1896-1916), quarterly conference records (1887-1952). In 2022, members of Haynesville United Methodist Church were unable to locate and transfer these original volumes.
