Biography

Lenora Alma Waller Street (1907-1986) moved in 1920 from Haynesville, Louisiana to Shreveport, Louisiana with her parents, Aylmer Longino Waller (1882-1946) and Frances Ethel Shaw Waller (1887-1956), and brother, Roma Leslie Waller (1914-1986). She graduated from Shreveport High School in 1923 and attended Centenary College of Louisiana from the fall of 1923 to the spring of 1925. While at Centenary, she was a member of the Kappa Pi sorority, Pi Kappa Delta (Honorary Forensic Society), Centenary Woman’s Athletic Association, debate team, newspaper staff, and yearbook staff. After leaving Centenary, she graduated from the University of Colorado with an A.B. Degree. On May 8, 1928, she married John Ralph Street. The Streets relocated to Los Angeles, California.

Scope and Contents The Lenora Waller Street papers consist of scrapbooks documenting her high school and college days as well as her marriage. The Girl Graduate scrapbook covers her time at Shreveport High School during the years 1920 to 1923.
