Gordon, Thomas Cage, 1856-1927
Biography
Thomas Cage Gordon (1856-1927) is the stepson of Rev. Almerin G. Miller (1813-1888), who served as Centenary College of Louisiana’s preparatory department principal from 1848 to 1861 and again from 1876 to 1877. Gordon enrolled at Centenary College of Louisiana in 1866 and graduated in 1874. He worked as a public school teacher in Tennessee and served as superintendent of the Indian schools of the Sisseton and Wahpeton reservations in the Dakotas. He later worked as a lawyer and superintendent of schools in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Gordon also served in the Tennessee state legislature. In 1879, Gordon married Kate Latta (1859-1946); they had four children.
