Biography
William Hezekiah Nathaniel Magruder was born in Jefferson County, Mississippi. He attended Wesleyan University and graduated in 1836. From 1842 to 1850, he served as the professor of Latin and Greek at Centenary College of Louisiana. In 1855, Magruder established the Collegiate Institute of Baton Rouge.
