The Oak Ridge Circuit of the Louisiana Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church South appears to originated as the Boneida [or Bonidea] Circuit around 1859. This circuit was part of the Monroe District in northeast Louisiana. Quarterly conference reports reveal numerous changes to the circuit: Boneida Circuit, Monroe District (1859-1860); Bartholomew and Jefferson Circuits, Monroe District (1860); Jefferson Circuit, Monroe District (1860-1863); Jefferson Circuit, Bastrop District (1863-1866); Jefferson Circuit, Monroe District (1867); Jefferson Circuit, Lake Providence District (1868); Oak Ridge Circuit and Bastrop Station, Lake Providence District (1869); Oak Ridge and Prairie Mer Rouge Circuit, Lake Providence District (1872); Oak Ridge and Prairie Mer Rouge Circuit, Delhi District (1873-1874); Oak Ridge Circuit, Delhi District (1875-1886).
