First Evangelical United Brethren Church (Jennings, La.)
Biography
First Evangelical United Brethren Church (Jennings, La.) was organized in 1897 by Rev. E. J. Church
of the Iowa Conference of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ. The request for a church was
made by a family in Jennings who previously lived in Des Moines, Iowa. The first official board
meetings for the church began in 1911. The church was incorporated as the First United Brethren
Church of Jennings by charter dated January 27, 1927.
As a result of denominational mergers, the church’s name changed multiple times -- First Evangelical
United Brethren Church (in 1946) and Trinity United Methodist Church (in 1968). In 1998, Trinity
United Methodist Church merged with Jennings United Methodist Church.
