Biography
Saint Mark's United Methodist Church was located at 513 Lincoln Road, Monroe, Louisiana.
The church was organized on February 28, 1960, under the leadership of Rev. Forrest Blunt, Jr. There were sixty charter members in the congregation. Services were first held at the Lakeshore Elementary School. With the help of the District, the 1000 Club, and a loan from the General Board of Missions, property was purchased in August 1960.
Groundbreaking for the new church was held on March 27, 1961. The church was completed in several months, with the opening service held on July 9, 1961. In 1980, the facilities were expanded to include offices, a fellowship hall, and classrooms. Beginning in February 2004, a contemporary worship service (Expectations) was added to the worship schedule.
Saint Mark's United Methodist Church disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church in May 2023.
