Biography

Converse United Methodist Church (Converse, La.) appears to have originated in the 1920s. The earliest located mention of the church appears in the 1926 conference journal published by the Louisiana Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. At that time, the Converse congregation belonged to the Lake Charles District. After the church was damaged by a storm in 1962, the congregation constructed a new building. In 1997, the Louisiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church formally declared Converse United Methodist Church abandoned and discontinued.
