Biography

Rocky Mount United Methodist Church (Bienville Parish, La.) traces its origins to the 1880s. The church and cemetery are located approximately six miles west of Ringgold, Louisiana, at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 154 and Bienville Parish Road 405. Construction of a church building began in 1902, though records do not indicate when it was completed. The building was renovated in 1967, and it was destroyed by a fire in September 1970. Also in September 1970, congregation members voted to discontinue services and withdraw from the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church. Former members later constructed a new church building and organized as a Southern Methodist congregation.
