Scrapbook, 1922 - 1924
Scope and Contents
The Charles Moss Bannerman scrapbook primarily consists of photographs documenting student activities and athletics at Centenary College of Louisiana from 1922 to 1923. Many photographs depict Centenary football players and games played during fall 1922. Newspaper clippings and ticket stubs from this football season also appear. Also included are photographs of Centenary’s campus, buildings, students, and faculty. This includes the college’s band and glee club; Bannerman was a member of both groups. Photographs from a 1923 Centenary baseball game are included, as well. Other photographs depict the United States Sheet and Window Glass Company (Shreveport, La.), Mardi Gras parades in New Orleans in 1924, and images of Homer, Louisiana’s high school, oil fields, and Claiborne Parish Courthouse. Also included are photographs depicting a December 28, 1922, football game played at Centenary College by professional football teams, the Toledo Maroons and Milwaukee Badgers. Captions identify players on these teams, including Jim Thorpe and Centenary’s football coach, Bo McMillin.
