This volume contains administrative reports about the activities of Methodist Episcopal Church South congregations located in northeast Louisiana. The reports contain information about the spiritual condition of congregations, the religious instruction of children, financial matters, and statistical information about baptisms and membership. Specific individuals identified in the volume are usually church administrators. In a few instances, members are identified upon baptism or death.

The quarterly conference reports reveal numerous changes to the circuit: Boneida Circuit, Monroe District (1859-1860); Bartholomew and Jefferson Circuits, Monroe District (1860); Jefferson Circuit, Monroe District (1860-1863); Jefferson Circuit, Bastrop District (1863-1866); Jefferson Circuit, Monroe District (1867); Jefferson Circuit, Lake Providence District (1868); Oak Ridge Circuit and Bastrop Station, Lake Providence District (1869); Oak Ridge and Prairie Mer Rouge Circuit, Lake Providence District (1872); Oak Ridge and Prairie Mer Rouge Circuit, Delhi District (1873-1874); Oak Ridge Circuit, Delhi District (1875-1886).

Churches identified in these circuits include: Bartholomew Methodist Episcopal Church South (Bastrop, La.), Jones Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church South (Lampkin, La.), Oak Ridge Methodist Episcopal Church South (Oak Ridge, La.), Prairie Mer Rouge Methodist Episcopal Church South (Prairie Mer Rouge, La.), DeGallion Methodist Episcopal Church South, Good Hope Methodist Episcopal Church South, and Pine Grove Methodist Episcopal Church South.

The volume states, “Note: Let it be remembered that Jefferson Circuit through the years 1868, 1869, 1870, 1871, and the first quarter of 1872, was attached to Bastrop Station. Hence no records for those years. The Conference year of the Oak Ridge and Prairie Mer Rouge Circuit announced properly with second quarter” (circa April 1872).
